Polish week

This week we had our singular week to polish , some slight changes will still be made before full release but most of it is done.
We are all happy with the result we reached over the weeks and it has been a great learning experience for all of us.

programming

A lot of small tasks to improve the game were done. The respawn time has been removed to make the game more smooth, fixed a bug when the play jumps straight on top of an obstacle, removed the support beams for the boat, fixed players not colliding with obstacles when standing still, updated camera settings and only let the player respawn further back in the level so that respawning doesn't give you an advantage. We have added rumbling effect when player uses an item from inventory, picks up an item, being punched or fall into water. Also we have been fixing bugs that left from production stage.

Art

We added a few small features to improve the gameplay. We worked on better readability of the gameplay elements. First, we designed a glowing pad to indicate the location of the pickup item. Second, we made a special shader that creates an outline to help players spot items from a longer distance. Finally, we made an outline shader for the characters, which looks like a glow around them. This helps players keep track of their characters during gameplay, as each character has a glowing outline in their own color.

made a particle for when the player picks up an item to make game play more understandable, one for when a player is stunned (we took inspiration from Tom and Jerry), one where there are particles behind the axe for readablility, one for when a power up is available and one for when players walk through the mud. We created an end screen with different elements and good readability, We fixed the water particle, the timing was wrong. We were finally able to implement the animations and changed the jump animation because it looked weird after somebody tested it. We also fixed the jumping animation trigger at last

Sound

polish is all about player feedback and as you've seen with art that has been our main focus this week, a lot of smaller sounds were added to give the player more of an idea of what's happening.  Since the animations were able to be implemented we also got all the player sounds into the game.
After a long time waiting the mixing also has been done , some small tweaking might still be done here and there but for the majority we are happy where it stands.
