Production sprint 2: week 2

this week was very unstable considering we had some issues concerning source control with one of our artists which means a lot of production got to stand still, there will be a catchup happening after this gets fixed.

there are still tons of new stuff to look at and maybe most importantly there is now a main level to be played through, this is our first iteration of the level so any feedback is always welcome to improve the level!

Programming

Jump has finally been implemented, which we have heard from play testers was a big need. We also heard that players wanted more player interaction and that has now also improved. When players bump into each other you will both get launched in opposite directions. The player attack functionality has also been implemented and there is more feedback for picking up items. When an item has been picked up it will now show above a player's head to show what they have picked up. So far the beer bottle has been implemented, which makes every other player except for you drunk for a certain amount of time, affected by the position that the player is in.

Also in this week we have been working on code for mechanic of throwing objects. We have been working on creating a modular spinning wheel obstacle but it is not finished yet because we faced up some difficulties. It will be finished next week.

Art

This week we worked on some of the setdressing for the level, vegetation has been made to put on our cliffsides so it really feels like you are in a scandinavian river running through the woods.

the breakable platforms also got a nice visual update to them replacing the placeholder mesh!
Our masher cube also is no more since we have the very intimidating spiky masher that you do not want to get under, trust us.

Since we had downtime with the source control animations are still in progress sadly but we didn't sit idle and the UI art is on their way this will soon also be visible inside the build but here is a sneak peak of one of the screens.

Sound

Some downtime in this department due to dependencies staying open sadly but our sound department took the role of level designer onto them and crafted the first iteration of the level , the architecture is getting ready for the last stretch of implementation. Events have been setup in the code to put in the beautiful soundscape by next week everything will all come together

We hope you stay tuned for our finished game next week, there is still a lot to do but motivation is at an all time high for the project and we are excited to put in the final features to make it all come together
